The premise

Pagan Blog Prompts is a place to find inspiration for writing in your own blog concerning Pagan themes. Each Thursday, a new thought-provoking prompt is posted. Take the idea and run with it - let all your thoughts flow through your fingers and into your blog. Then come back here and comment on the original prompt post with a link to your blog, so we can all see what it is that makes you tick. Subscribe via Email, Follow us, of Like us on Facebook (links on the right), to keep up with new postings!

Update and Open Call

First off, I'd like to say a heartfelt "Welcome" to all of our newest followers! Glad you could find us! I hope you find lots of inspiration in these pages, either in our prompts or in the responses others have shared.

As a reminder, comments ARE moderated here. This is to keep our page free from spammers (which have taken to leaving comments in Korean or Japanese, and link to porn sites). I apologize if your comment doesn't show up for a couple days - I can forget to check in here on a daily basis. But trust that any honest comments from real people will be shared in time.

Can you believe we've been here since April 2009? With a new prompt each week, that's a lot of blog topic ideas to wade through! So be sure to skim our section on the left, the Labels section - those are all tags that have been used on prompts that may help you find something to write about. Or, if you'd rather, the Archives section is also on the left, where you can see the posts listed by date. Remember, you can go back to any previous prompt and respond - wherever the blogging mood takes you!

And now for the Open Call - I've gone through a LOT of my own ideas for prompts, and some days my stash just doesn't speak to me. So once again, I'm asking for input from my readers - What prompt ideas do YOU have? Perhaps something you've blogged about already that you'd like to see others consider... or ideas that never really materialized in your own blog. I want to hear 'em! I'll be storing them in a document on my computer so I can pull from them each week. Who knows when you'll see your prompt show up here....

One last thing. I want to thank everyone for their positive comments and feedback regarding this blog. I started it up when Witches Weekly disappeared, and I never imagined it would do so well. It is because of you that I keep going, and will continue to provide thought-provoking ideas for your blogs. Thank you!

Congratulations on your success, although I'm not surprised! You've got a great thing going here and a wonderful resource for jarring someone (okay, ME, lol) out of suffering from "writer's block" too long!

I apologize for not knowing what has already been used for "prompts"...the following ideas may already be out there...

1. Have you ever had a negative experience during or after a ritual, invocation or spell-casting? Did it scare you? How did you deal with it?

2. If you are a Solitary, do you ever long for a mentor, coven or friend to learn with, learn from, or practice with? If so, what keeps you from seeking to join with others?

3. If you write a Pagan blog or website, what do you find is the greatest obstacle? The greatest reward?

4. Some Pagans connect with Deity. Do you? Why or why not? Do you find it difficult to include Deity?

Comments in Korean or Japanese that link to porn sites? I kept having that problem a while ago. They seemed to eventually lose interest in my blog, fortunately.

I haven't gone through all the old prompts, so I'm not too sure what you've already covered, and as a result have no prompt ideas to share. I just wanted to say, "hi," and such.

I do in the future plan on going through old prompts and will probably do posts for at least some of them, but right now I'm behind on things I wanted to get posted as it is. I'm slowly catching up though! ;)

I do have a question though... Is it essential that you keep the word verification on? I completely understand the moderation setting being on, it's just that... Well, you see I'm blind, and the "listen and type" thing almost never works, so for me to comment on here (even if it's to just put up a link to posts I've done) I have to have someone help me because of the word verification. I understand if you feel it is necessary - and I wont stop visiting; I think your prompts could be useful to me for future posts, and I like reading the things people post in reply - but when I start going through your old prompts it would be easier for me if it wasn't there. Like I said, if you think it's necessary, then by all means keep it, but otherwise... Well, I'm sure you get my point.

Thanks for your time, as well as for creating this place!

Brightest blessings,
Toriz

I got these from Raven Grimassi's Hearthside Chats face book page, but it is something worth discussion across the pagan community:

Some men who are wiccans are reclaiming the name "warlock" in the tradition of women reclaiming the name "witch". Warlock is commonly said to mean oath breaker. What do you think? Can it/should it be reclaimed?

and

What experiences and advise do people have about connecting an object (jewelry or crystal etc.) to a Spirit to magnify its power or direct its energy to a particular use?

Awesome suggestions everyone! I've added them to my list and hope to use them soon.

And Toriz, I will rethink the word verification. It does seem a bit excessive to have both moderation and verification on.... Thanks for pointing out that the voice thing isn't as helpful as we'd all like.

Hi I have been following your blog for several months now and I can't thank you enough for the help it has given me for my own blog ( http://magikosstudios.wordpress.com/) To return the favor here are some ideas, I hope they help.
1.animals, both as totems and familiars
2.what does labels like pagan, witch heathen ect, mean to you?
3.in a religion that believes in magic what are your thoughts on the supernatural or/and telepathy, telekinesis ect.

I noticed you removed the word verification thing... Thanks for that! :)

To M Shaffer, very good ideas! Thank you for sharing. I am currently working on a post regarding Familiars but have been side-tracked a bit. :)

I was thinking that some wordless picture prompts might be fun. Write about your reaction to this photo or piece of pagan artwork. It would certainly get the creative juices flowing.

Great idea, Dawn - do you have any ideas where to get photos/images to use?
