Prompt: Ethics and Money
How do you feel about being paid for certain services of a pagan nature? Like Tarot/Palm/Astrology readings? Often these services are seen as personal, due to the nature of the readings. Some people find it unethical to charge for these services.

A very wise pagan lady I know makes makes her living from cleansing people's houses, performing African rituals and counselling. Recently we attended the inaugural opening of a mutual acquaintance's Magickal supply shop and my friend performed the opening ritual. Part of the ritual was to ask the Universe to send money to the shop - which after all will not survive withourt financial gain.
My friend made a statement which I won't forget in a hurry: Money is an important blessing we need to receive in order to go about our business in the world. It is an enabler, a tool, and something we all need whatever philosophy we follow, whatever message we need to send out in the world. The onus is on all of us who are able to, to make sure we have enough to survive, thrive, and do whatsoever work we have been placed on the Beautiful Earth to do.
I hear of so many pagans who are shy of asking for money - but I believe it is our individual responsiblility to take care of ourselves financially so we can continue to do what we do. We live in challenging times, and yes there are charlatans, fraudsters, and people we might rather not be associated with - but these people are to be found anywhere and everywhere. Good work - wherever it hails from - must continue. I say, if you feel you have something genuine and of value to share then by all means be prepared to charge within reason for it.
Well said :)
Here is my post on this very good prompt.

My partner Merlin and I do not charge for our spiritual services because they are a gift of love. That not be everyone'e choice or belief, but it is ours.
