Prompt: Samhain

The Pagan/Wiccan New Year is closing in upon us. This Saturday is Samhain (for the Northern Hemisphere)...

How do you celebrate?
Any specific plans for this year?
Any rituals or traditions you've carried throughout the years?

Or if you don't want to take that angle...
What does Samhain mean to you?
Which parts of this holiday speak to you the most?

How do you meld current cultural practices with your own rituals and practices, concerning Halloween/Samhain?

Gosh, there are so many questions about this day I could ask to get you filling up your blogs, but I think that's a great start for today. I look forward to all the great entries! And remember, you can answer these any time you want, so if you would prefer to write about this year's celebration after the fact, no worries!

Prompt: Book of Shadows

This was a suggestion by one of our regulars, and it will surely bring a wide range of answers.....

What is your Book of Shadows/Grimoire like?
Is it digital or hand-written? A spiral bound notebook, loose leaf pages in a binder, or in a handmade binding?
What kinds of things do you keep in this book, and what things do you leave out or reserve for another book?
If you are willing, perhaps take a picture or two to share with us.
How do you ensure the safety of this information? Where do you keep it?

Alright, that's plenty of prompting questions - take one or all and run with them!
Next week's prompt is Samhain, so get your holiday juices flowing! :)

Prompt: Climate Change

Today's prompt brought to you by Blog Action Day.

Blog Action Day is an annual event on every Oct 15, all about uniting bloggers on a single topic. The theme for this year's Blog Action Day is Climate Change. And so, I present this as your pagan blog prompt for today.

You can write about how you are dealing with it, what you think will happen in the near future, or how you explain it through your beliefs as a Pagan.

Also, be sure to visit the site to register your blog, then in your post link back to www.blogactionday.org, so you can share with the rest of the world what you think about the topic.

Prompt: New Home Blessing

With the move that is suddenly in my face, this is one of the many things that has cropped up in my mind. I am curious to see what kind of house cleanings or other move-in ritual you all do.

If you have done this before, please share as much as you are willing.
If you have not done this before but plan to next time you move, please describe how you hope it to go.
For those that do not do these things, I am just a little curious as to Why?

Prompt: October

The seasons are changing, the Wheel of the Year is turning, and while life is rejoicing in the last of the Harvests, we are preparing for our 'hibernation'.

Welcome to October! For many Pagans, the end of this month marks the beginning of a New Year. Samhain, All Hallows Eve, Halloween, whatever you call it - this time of mystery and spiritual connection is just around the corner.

Today's prompt is How is this season expressed/reflected in your life? Do you change your altar around, or put out new decorations around your home (feel dree to show pictures!)? What kinds of harvesting are you doing in your life? What preparations are you making for the coming winter?

I would have asked specifically about Samhain rituals, but I will save that for the week of Samhain instead.
